North Pinellas Cultural Alliance, January 2018
In an effort to promote arts and culture in the north part of Pinellas County, art-minded individuals joined forces to create the North Pinellas Cultural Alliance (NPCA). With it’s initial focus on marketing, public awareness and funding, the NCPA launched a new website promoting local Events, Call to Artist, a resource Directory for Artists, Museums, Art Education, Libraries, Actors and more all in the targeted areas of Clearwater, Dunedin, Largo, Oldsmar, Palm Harbor, Safety Harbor and Tarpon Springs. The NPCA will work with each city when it comes to funding for the artists work as well as assisting in the promotion of each art related project.
In addition, the NPCA is creating Tool Kits that provide step by step instructions for different art installations. The most recent kit created was the Painted Pedestrian Crosswalk. The City of Safety Harbor used the kit to create its Renaissance Octopus which can be found on the crosswalk in front of the boat ramp at the Safety Harbor Marina. The City of Oldsmar recently issued a Call to Artist for it’s Trail Mural using the same tool kit as its guideline. The next kit that will be available will be the “Give Me Shelter” bus stop shelter kit. The City of Dunedin will be unveiling it’s completed Give Me Shelter bus stop on Thursday, February 22.
With partners like Creative Pinellas, Arts Tampa Bay, St. Pete Arts Alliance, Clearwater Arts Alliance, Dunedin Fine Art Center, Tarpon Arts and Culture Builds Florida, the NPCA is gaining momentum to be a valuable resource to the arts and cultural community of North Pinellas.
